DOCP, or Direct Over Clock Profile, is an ASUS technology that aims to replicate Intel’s
eXtreme Memory Profile (XMP) feature, which can be found on all Intel-based motherboards (assuming the motherboard isn’t too old or isn’t a Manufacture system,
which tends to lock the user out of changing this and other options).
We’ve covered all you need to know about it, including how to fix problems.
If you have a question that you can’t find the solution to in this article,

What Is DOCP?
Direct Overclocking Profile (DOCP) is an acronym for Direct Overclocking Profile.
It’s an ASUS-developed overclocking profile for AMD motherboards.
On AMD motherboards, DOCP employs the XMP interface to automatically configure
data rate and timing. DOCP is far superior to manual configuration because you can
make mistakes while choosing voltage and speed, whereas DOCP will set everything
to the hardware specs.
How does DOCP work?
DOCP improves the stability of the CPU by increasing the speed and voltage,
as well as affecting the memory controller. While playing games, it is natural for the
temperature to rise.
Poor ventilation is sometimes the main cause of temperature rises after
DOCP is activated. Please double-check to ensure your CPU case has sufficient
fans and that your CPU coolant is adequate.
Is D.O.C.P Safe?
Yes, it’s far preferable than manual setting because you can make mistakes while
selecting voltage and speed, whereas D.O.C.P automatically configures it all based
on hardware specifications.
What happens when you enable DOCP?
DOCP is far superior to manual setting because you can make mistakes while
choosing voltage and speed, whereas DOCP will setup everything to the hardware specs. DOCP improves stability via increasing speed and voltage, as well as affecting the CPU’s
How Do I enable or Disable it on my Computer?
Let’s look at how to enable or disable DOCP now.
1 During the boot-up process, press the F2 or Delete key to enter BIOS.
2 To access Advanced mode, use the F7 key. Then select AI Tweaker from the drop-down menu.
3 Now, directly next to AI Overclock Tuner, click the dropdown key.
4 From the menu, choose D.O.C.P. Finally, press the F10 key or click Save & Exit.
You can also configure FCLK after activating DOCP (Fabric Clock). It should be adjusted to
1/2 of the DDR4 RAM’s MHz value. If at any time you decides to disable it, just go back to
the first three steps in the preceding section and select whether you want DOCP to stop
working automatically or manually.
How to Fix the DOCP Issue
DOCP can cause the game to crash occasionally. If you run into this problem, you can
attempt the following approaches to solve it.
1. Examine your memory
The motherboard maker provides a QVL (Qualified Supplier List) so you can check
hardware compatibility. If your RAM isn’t on the list, you’ll need to buy suitable RAM.
2. Increase the voltage in the memory
Increasing the RAM voltage and manually changing the timing will sometimes resolve
the crash issue, so give it a shot before buying new RAM.
3. CMOS Reset
If your PC still won’t boot after enabling DOCP, try resetting the CMOS
(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor). Your BIOS will be reset to factory defaults
if you reset the CMOS. CMOS can be reset via BIOS, but because your computer isn’t
switched on, you’ll have to do it via CLRTC.
How To Fix CPU Temperature Rising After Enabling D.O.C.P?
If after enabling D.O.C.P, you notice that the CPU temperatures rising, simply follow the
steps below to fix it. D.O.C.P improves stability by increasing speed and voltage,
as well as affecting the CPU’s memory controller.
It’s common to notice rising temperatures while gaming. After enabling D.O.C.P,
inadequate ventilation might sometimes bethe main cause of rising temperatures.
Check to see if your CPU casing has enough fans and if your CPU coolant is up to the
What is Intel XMP, and how does it work?
Before diving into D.O.C.P, it’s important to know the meaning of Intel XMP is and the
relationship between XMP and D.O.C.P. Intel XMP is a system that automatically
adjusts DRAM frequency, voltage, and timings to meet specifications.
You’ll have to configure your RAM manually if you don’t have XMP, which can be difficult for non-technical people. Bypassing manual setup and not enabling the XMP capability, will cause your RAM to run at a standard specification that is dependent on the
CPU you have.
Is DOCP same as XMP? D.O.C.P VS XMP
XMP is found on most recent Intel motherboards, and D.O.C.P. is found on AMD
motherboards. Both D.O.C.P and XMP were created with the same goal in mind.
DOCP VS STANDARD DOCP
There is a very slight difference that exists between the standard D.O.C.P, and D.OC.P.
While the D.O.C.P standard setting chooses a RAMdivider at the rated frequency of the kit. The D.O.C.P standard setting chooses a ram divider at the rated frequency of the kit.
To illustrate this further, lets look at this example; assuming your RAM runs at
3000MHz with the normal DOCP enable, changing to D.O.C.P Standard,
will end up reducing the memory speed to keep within AMD’s memory
If you’re unsure, proceed with D.O.C.P and afterwards verify if indeed the RAM
is stable; if it is, keep it that way; if it isn’t, swap to D.O.C.P standard.
Does DOCP void warranty?
DOCP is an ASUS feature for AMD boards, and not an AMD feature.
XMP, on the other hand, was created by Intel.
On both IAMD and Intel, the XMP parameters can be loaded.
Since alot of XMP kits run on 1.35V, while those who don’t are still within formal
spec, they frequently void warranties.
What Is D.O.C.P AI Overclocker Tuner DOCP?
The AI Overclocker Tuner DOCP feature may be found in the ASUS
motherboard’s BIOS’s AI tweaker menu.
It allows you to select one of three options: Auto, Manual, or D.O.C.P.
Should You Enable D.O.C.P?
Yes, as previously said, D.O.C.P will boost your RAM to allow you to fully utilize its capabilities.
You’ll have to rely on Automatic or manual configuration if you don’t use D.O.C.P, which aren’t always the best solutions.
What Should You Do If D.O.C.P Isn’t Working?
Check that the memory is in slots A2/B2 and that the BIOS is up to date.
