Facebook archived messages -Facebook Messenger has a section that groups the messages you have archived.  You can archive Facebook messages and put them in a separate folder.

You can use the mobile app’s search bar to view them by name or connect to the website to view them as a list.

Do you have old Messenger conversations that you don’t necessarily want to delete? Well, it is quite possible to archive them on Messenger to consult them later if necessary on your computer or your Android or iPhone phone.

This aids organization of your chats without erasing them.

For some, Facebook’s Messenger messaging app is literally their default messaging app. They do not send text messages, but Messenger messages.

Such persons will have a very large number of conversations in the long run.

The advantage of archiving a conversation is that you can access it when you want, unlike when you delete it.

However, I explain in this article how not only to archive your Messenger conversations on computer or mobile, but also how to find them.

First of all, let’s take a look at how to archive chats on Facebook Messenger. There was a time when the option looked like this:

To access the list of your archived messages , you simply need to use the option Conversations archivees accessible from the cogwheel at the top left of your interface.

You do not look for an option to retrieve messages from the archive , there is only one way: reactivate the conversation . Once the exchange has been re-engaged with your contact, it will automatically go to your inbox.

Note that on the mobile version of Messenger (at least on iOS), it is not possible to find your archived conversations in a dedicated section. 

You will need to type the name of your contact directly into the search field to access it. Or to find the complete list of messages in the archives, follow the instructions described below to archive and retrieve archived messages on both PC and mobile.

To archive Messenger conversations on your computer is not that complicated at all. But before you can archive them you must be connected to your Facebook account.

Then Click on the Messenger tab

Select View All in Messenger

Place your cursor on the conversation you want to archive

Click on the three small dots

Select the Hide option, and boom you have successfully archived the message.

Conversations that are archived on Messenger are automatically saved on the messaging platform.

So to consult our conversations archived on a computer, you must: Connect to your Facebook account first.

Log in to Facebook account in your computer’s web browser. If you are logged in, Messenger will open to your inbox.

On top right side of your screen, Click on the messenger icon, then click on see all in messenger from the drop-down menu.

On the top left side of the screen, click  on the settings icon, and select hidden chats, this will bring out all archived messages.

These are the conversations you archived. To view an archived conversation, click on it.

HOW TO ARCHIVE FACEBOOK MESSENGER CONVERSATION ON ANDROID AND IOS

To archive a Messenger conversation on an  Android or iOS phone and tablet, the procedure is no more complicated than on a computer.

To archive a Messenger conversation on Android, iPhone or iPad, you must:

Open the Messenger application and connect to your account

Long press on the name of the person whose conversation you want to archive, and choose the Archive option from the pop-up.

You can archive a conversation on mobile by long pressing it, selecting More (skip this step on Android) and then choosing Archive.

Just like on a computer, the conversations that are archived on the Messenger application remain archived in the messaging service.

To find them, it’s extremely simple. In fact, just type the name of the person in the search bar of the app.

This brings up all the conversations that we have had with that person, whether individually or in a group. We can then also see the conversation that we have archived with this person. 

If you are not yet logged in to www.facebook.com on your mobile phone browser,  before continuing.

Click on the red icon at the top right screen, select Desktop site from the drop-down menu. This will change the page to a desktop view.

Click on the messenger icon, select see all in messenger at bottom.

Click  on the settings icon, at the top left of the screen, select hidden chats, this will show all archived messages.

Open Facebook Messenger App, Tap the search bar. The search bar is located at the top side of the screen.

Tap it to display the keypad on your phone.

Enter the name of the conversation recipient. Type the name of the person to whom you sent the archived conversation. You will see several results appear in a drop-down menu.
If Facebook Messenger opens with a conversation, first tap the back button at the top left of the screen.

If this is a group conversation, type the name of one of the group members.

CONCLUSION

While it is possible to delete Messenger conversations altogether, it is also possible to archive them.

 Although it is possible to view an archived conversation by performing a specific search, you cannot open a list of your archived messages in the Messenger app.

On a desktop computer, you can select a conversation from the conversations list, click the cogwheel icon that appears to the right of the conversation, and then choose Archive to add the conversation to the archived messages section.
