How To Link Your NIN To Your MTN, Airtel, Glo And 9mobile Lines

Following the recent order issued by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), to all the telecom operators in the country, to link all SIM cards to the National Identification Number (NIN), and to disconnect or blocked any number not link to a NIN.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) gave out a notice that whoever doesn’t link their National Identification Number with their SIM will be impeded from utilizing their portable lines.

Please note that you can only link your NIN to your line, only if you have registered at the NIMC office.

WHAT IS NIN?

NIN stands for National Identification Number.

It is an eleven-digit number assigned to an individual upon successful enrollment by The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

The enrolment is somehow tedious due to the number of people that want to be enrolled.

The process requires a collection and submission of an individual demographic data and fingerprint, and image, and digital signature.

HOW TO GET YOUR NIN USING YOUR PHONE VIA NIMC USSD

If you cant place your hand on your NIN, you can retrieve it using NIMC USSD.

To get your NIN using USSD code, please Dial *346#.

You will receive an SMS containing your NIN. This will cost you N20 only.

Please note that this USSD works irrespective of the mobile network you are using.

HOW TO LINK NIN TO AIRTEL LINE  

To successfully link your National Identification Number (NIN) to your Airtel phone number, simply follow the steps listed below:

• Dial *121# on the Airtel number you want to link.
• Enter 1 “ for NIN capture” and send.
• Enter your 11 digit NIN and submit.

Then wait for the feedback message. If you receive an error message, please wait for a while and try again.

HOW TO LINK NIN TO MTN NUMBER

There are a number of ways to link your NIN to your MTN line; via MTN website, MTN App or from your personal phone.

1. To link your NIN to your MTN line via your phone, simply Dial *785#, then Enter your 11-digit NIN, and click “Send”.
2. To linked via MNT website, go to https://mtnonline.com/nim on your browser, fill, and submit the form on the platform and wait for feedback.
3. You can also place a call to their customer service by dialling 180.

HOW TO LINK NIN TO 9MOBILE LINE

Unfortunately, 9mobile doesn’t have USSD code for linking NIN to 9mobile line at the time of writing this post.

So, if you use 9Mobile line, please visit their nearest office or you visit their website to link your NIN to your 9mobile line.

To do this visit 9mobile.com.ng/nin

Click on ‘Verify and link your NIN now’

Fill the information required and submit the form, then wait for feedback.

If you are visiting their office, remember to take your NIN and your SIM pack along with you, or you will be prepared to swear an affidavit.

HOW TO LINK NIN TO GLO LINE

There are a number of options available for those that use Glo SIM card.

You can visit www.gloworld.com/ng/nin to fill in your information and link your NIN with your Glo line

You can also use the text message format to connect your NIN it to your Globacom line

• Send text:{ UPDATENIN then NIN number, first name, last nam} then send to 109.  Example:{ Updatenin 12345678910 Mathew, John} send to 109
