To take a screenshot in Windows 10 using the new snipping tool, follow the steps below

  • Capture a Snip:

The first step is to launch the snipping toolbar.

Then select the type of snip you want, Click Mode for the older version, or click the arrow next to the New button for the recent version.

Then pick the type of snip you want from the options that will appear; Full screen, Freeform, or Rectangular.

When making Freeform and Rectangular snip, you will select the area you want to cover.

From the Start menu, go to All apps then select Windows Accessories and navigate to Snipping Tool.

Right-click on the Snipping Tool and select Open file location from the context menu, then select the Shortcut tab.

Click the field next to “Shortcut key”, and then press one key on your keyboard, it can be a function key, a letter key, or a numerical key.

After setting a keyboard shortcut to Snipping Tool, click Apply.

If you select a function or numerical key, it will automatically become the shortcut key to open Snipping Tool.

If you select a letter key, Windows will add Ctrl + Alt automatically as a prefix to the shortcut. So, if you select A key, for instance, Windows will use Ctrl + Al + A as the shortcut to Snipping Tool.
