WhatsApp Desktop App or  WhatsApp Web are the two ways to use WhatsApp on your computer.

They are platforms that allow users to access their  WhatsApp account on a PC.

It works as an extension of your WhatsApp account. This means that, if you already have an existing account on Whatsapp mobile, you don’t need to create another account, simply download the WhatsApp App or visit the WhatsApp desktop.

WhatsApp desktop app integrates very well with the mobile app, despite fetching all messages from the phone and not a saver.

It can seamlessly sync all your chats to your computer so that you can chat on whatever device is most convenient for you at any time.

It has no lag and can be relied upon to ensure the message is delivered correctly, even under poor network conditions.

FEATURES OF WHATSAPP WEB

Whatsapp desktop web shares the same features with the mobile app, apart from the Native Notification, and Keyboard shortcuts.

With the keyboard shortcuts, you can mute a current conversation, and start a new chat.  You can also jump between chats, and complete other actions using your keyboard, rather than navigating with your mouse as you would in WhatsApp Web.

Unlike the WeChat, with WhatsApp web, you can load history, even though it is from your phone and not a server. You can also send stickers.

HOW TO USE WHATSAPP WEB ON WINDOWS

WhatsApp is not accessible on phones only, with WhatsApp Desktop Web, you can now access the chat messenger on tablets, and  PC.

The good thing is that it is very easy to set up and use, and offers shortcut keys, which is very useful especially when you have lots of chats going on at the same time.

To use the WhatsApp desktop, you need to follow the steps listed below;

  1.  Visit the WhatsApp website on your web browser.
  2. A QR code will be displayed on the screen., scan it.
    To scan the QR code with your phone follow these steps depending on your device OS. On your Android, open WhatsApp > click on the three-dots icon at the upper-right side of your phone and select WhatsApp Web.  If you are using an iPhone, open WhatsAppSettings > WhatsApp Web.
  3. Once you scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen,  WhatsApp Web will become active on your computer system. You can start chatting with your contacts.
  4. Please Note that WhatsApp desktop web is compatible with your Mac and Windows PC.
  5. Also note that to use  WhatsApp Desktop for Mac or  Windows PC,  you need an active internet connection and a phone with an active WhatsApp account.

WHATSAPP WEB’S KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

The first thing I want you to know is that the desktop App does not recognize keyboard text shortcut, and does not have the auto-correct or suggested text features.

To help you enjoy the shortcut keys available on WhatsApp Web on your PC, I have made a list of the shortcut key:

  • Ctrl + N: Start new chat
  • Ctrl + Shift + ]: Next chat
  • Ctrl + Shift + [: Previous chat
  • Ctrl + E: Archive chat
  • Ctrl + Shift + M: Mute chat
  • Ctrl + Backspace: Delete chat
  • Ctrl + Shift + U: Mark as unread
  • Ctrl + Shift + N: Create new group
  • Ctrl + P: Open profile status
  •  Ctrl + Shift + Equals to zoom and enlarge text.

Also, note that your WhatsApp desktop App does not function without having your phone connected to it.

WHATSAPP WEB VIDEO CALL

It is not possible to make calls with WhatsApp web for now. The video call feature is only available on the WhatsApp mobile app.
